President Christian Receives the Letter of Credence for Ambassador of Finland

On Friday, March 31, 2017, President Peter M. Christian received the Letter of Credence of H.E. Jukka Siukosaari, Ambassador of Finland to the Federated States of Micronesia, in an official ceremony held at the President’s conference. He is cross-accredited from Tokyo, Japan.

President Christian congratulated Ambassador Suikosaari on his new appointment and welcomed him to the FSM, expressing his gratitude for the occasion and sharing his hope that the two countries cooperate and capitalize on issues of mutual interests at all levels.

Ambassador Siukosaari thanked President Christian for accepting his Letter of Credence and indicated that he looks forward to working with the FSM.

President Christian and the Ambassador exchanged views and comments over a number of possible areas of cooperation and assistance with emphasis in climate change and renewable energy (biomass).

Those present at the ceremony were Vice-President Yosiwo P. George, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Lorin S. Robert and other members of the President’s cabinet and staffs from the President’s Office and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
