At the invitation of the International Eco-tech Cooperation Working Committee of the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CNCPEC), Ambassador Carlson D. Apis participated in the First Chinese Maritime Silk Road - International Health Industry Forum and Healthy Cities Construction and Enablement Conference in Lingshui, Hainan from 12 to 13 November 2013.  The Conference brought together leaders of relevant state ministries and commissions, leaders of Hainan Province and Lingshui County, representatives of international organizations, Diplomatic Envoys along the maritime Silk Road, health experts, and business leaders to discuss cross boundary cooperation in the trade of agricultural products to promote Health Industries and Healthy Cities.

The FSM, like other international representatives that attended, gave presentations on healthy agriculture products that are exportable with the support of interested international partners who are willing to invest.  Ambassador Apis also touched on the FSM’s small rainforests and marine life which are very rich in bio-diversity and medicinal plants and trees.  This offers an opportunity for win-win cooperation among interested investors and the owners of the traditional knowledge and medicine.

The conference also gave Ambassador Apis the opportunity to promote the FSM as a tourism and foreign investment destination.  The Ambassador was able to meet with interested investors and will be sharing their information with relevant representatives of Government Offices and Chambers of Commerce in the FSM.
